CHEF MIGUEL ARCANJO – EXCELLENCE IN GOAN CUISINE AWARD

AGNEL INSTITUTE OF FOOD CRAFTS AND CULINARY SCIENCES  

CHEF MIGUEL ARCANJO was the First Indian (Goan) Executive Chef in 1939 at the Taj Mahal Hotel – Mumbai. He rose to be icon for that “Cuisine “ he stood for and was considered to be the  Culinary Brand Ambassador of the Taj during the 60’s. He has a restaurant named after him  at the Taj Exotica where the menu has been curated to showcase preparations of the Legendary Master of Cuisine.  Joe & Odette Mascarenhas family and Agnel Institute of Food Crafts and Culinary Sciences, Verna Goa organised this competition for the Excellence In Goan Cuisine Award  for the students from the Hospitality Institutes  in Goa.

8 Hospitality and Catering Institutes participated in the competition namely Institute of Hotel Management, Porvorim, Guardian Angel Institute Of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Curchorem, International Institute Of Hotel Management (IIHM),  Nuvem, Goa, Integrated MBA Hospitality, Travel And Tourism, Goa University, V.M. Salgaocar Institute Of International Hospitality Education, Manora, Raia, Gesto Margao, Agnel Vocational Training Institute, Verna  And  Agnel Institute Of Food Crafts And Culinary Sciences, Verna.

Chef Miguel Arcanjo student of the year Award was awarded to Mr. Joshua Samuel from Agnel Institute of Food Crafts and Culinary Sciences., Verna Goa. The first Runner up Mr. Simson Fernandes from  Guardian Angel Institute Of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Curchorem and 2nd Runner Up Ms. Ayati Rajesh Shetye from Institute of Hotel Management, Porvorim, and the best presentation Certificate was awarded to Mr. Joshua Samuel from Agnel Institute of Food Crafts and Culinary Sciences., Verna Goa.

The judges for this competition were Senior Executive Chef , Holiday Inn, Manjit Singh, Chef Sunit Sharma Hotel & F&B Service Consultant and Vice President Goan Culinary Club, Mr. Saurabh Khanna, General Manager The Park and Vice President Goan Culinary Club and Mr. Nolan Mascarenhas.

Awarding Winning Restaurant Proprietors Ms. Anisha Hassan of Saligao Stories and Mr. Atul Shah Proprietor of Spice Goa, Mapusa and Verem attended the Miguel Arcanjo Award 2020 Event.

 

The Miguel Arcanjo Award 2020 (Rolling Trophy) awarded for excellence in Goan Cuisine was handed over by the Vice President Joe & Odette Mascarenhas co-founders of the Goan Culinary Club.
